About ALA

Our Background

As stated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Sub- Saharan Africa comprises approximately 28% of women engaged in STEM careers. A recent report indicates that Sub-Saharan Africa boasts the highest proportion of female graduates at 32%, with an even higher proportion of female ICT graduates at 38%.

That’s where ALA comes in. We are a pool of professionals in various aviation and STEM sectors who aim to support vulnerable females in Sub-Saharan Africa. Our goal is to change the statistics of Africa’s involvement in aviation and STEM-related innovations. ​Through our programs, we address the issues in our communities, such as lack of access to basic information about the aviation and STEM ​fields, as well as the lack of resources.
