Welcome to ALA

African Leaders in Aviation was founded by Khodani Davhana and Nyasha Manyika. These women are both driven passionate, aspiring to bring about the change they wish to see in the fields of aviation and STEM across the African Continent.

As first-generation pilots entering the predominantly male aviation industry at a young age without any guidance, they faced numerous hardships and challenges on their journey to their current roles. They resolved to leverage their experiences to create a more accessible path for future generations, with the hope of easing their journey compared to their own. Above all, they aspired to share their passion for aviation with those who may not have had the opportunity to explore this remarkable field.

As ALA expanded, to make a more significant contribution, there was a growing need for a formally registered organization. Today, ALA is an organization with a dedicated group of volunteers – aviation and STEM professionals, who use their own experiences to teach, mentor and inspire African youth see new possibilities and break through constraints.
